Demetrius Constancy

"Heavy Is The Crown" is track eight and is the title track of the Hungry Lights studio album "Heavy Is The Crown." Remember that this is a summary, not the entire story! It is like 10% of what is actually going on—just the skeleton. It is a rough translation of what is literally going on in the lyrics. There is also a figurative story that is taking place at the same time which goes much deeper and does not involve the fictional character Prill, but that is up to you to find :) It is much easier to discover the hidden meaning when you grasp a decent understanding of the literal meaning first. These are your puzzle pieces, and I highly suggest you study them before pursuing the next albums in the sequence, otherwise emotion and information will be lost, therefore connections will be missed!

StoryEdit

In the song "Heavy Is The Crown," Prill has left Demetrius' laboratory, and he is moving deeper into the cave of Reflaugh's lair. He is filled with an ire that suppresses his fears (not to be mistake for courage), and then he is suddenly ambushed by a group of what Justin says to be wheeled, scarecrow-like abominations (currently unnamed). Prill tries to fight them, but there are just too many, and he is quickly overwhelmed. Before they can fully subdue him, Prill flees deeper and deeper into the caverns. He gets lost in the maze of tunnels, then one of the abominations blindsides him.

As he is being dragged away by it, Prill becomes further frustrated with his lack of strength and ability to get things done. He self-deprecates again about his ignorance and pride. This next part is not quite in the lyrics, but Justin said that Prill escapes the abomination, but is then drawn towards the sound of a harp—hypnotized. The serene melody leads him straight to Atah'xia, and he is captured for good.

Whether it is pride or sheer perseverance, something in Prill will not let him give up. He continues to push through the weight of his failures against all odds. Even captured, he is determined to get his daughter and his dignity back. He is determined to make things right again.

LyricsEdit

To your eyes, I might seem half alive

But to me, fiction swirled and wrote my story

-Possibly told allegory

In hindsight, I should have stepped light

But it's too late

Deception had no meaning—the mask was torn

I charged, for I'm no coward!

But I suppose I failed

I tried to take this hour!

But I suppose I failed

There's only so much amends can change

Before boiling over

And all that I'd gained meant nothing to me

For I was left field

Wanting to rid me of her haunting

And nothing real could stop me!

But the faster I'd run,

The tighter the fangs of the crest took hold

Wide-eyed and turned around

A stone pound in the chest—denied and downed

But I still wore my crown

When all odds are stacked against me

And all courage split,

I’ll stand my ground with a prideful prowess

-Heavy is the crown

I thought that I was bleeding virtue

Bakarum, bakarum

But all I ever did was hurt you

Bakarum, bakarum

And as she plays her heart before me,

Put to sleep by her song

I promised never to desert you…

Bakarum, bakarum!

Still lying to myself

Come join my treasured collection of tales

Beneath the onus upon my height,

Was there a sliver of the man I used to be?

Wide-eyed and turned around

A stone pound in the chest—denied and downed

But I still wore my crown

When all odds are stacked against me

And all courage split,

I’ll stand my ground with a prideful prowess

Heavy, the sucker’s crown
